Is an electronic signature valid on a lease?
In the US, the ESIGN Act and state UETA laws make electronic signatures on leases generally as valid as ink. The UK, the EU, Canada and Australia have similar rules. A few documents — such as some eviction or statutory notices — can have extra requirements, so if in doubt, ask your landlord or a local tenants' association.
Most landlords and letting agents accept a signed PDF by email; many use it for every tenancy.
